Five Articles to Read This Week…

On occasion we share five of the more thought-provoking, inspiring articles we’ve encountered during the previous week.

For your reading list this week…

Mobile Banking Risk Identification and Mitigation
This article, by Jerome F. Combs, Supervisory Examiner at the Minneapolis Fed, offers great food for thought on mobile security. Unlike other examiners we have heard opine on the subject, Mr. Combs advocates good strategy rather than simply avoiding the channel all together.

Danny Bradbury offers an interesting, investigative-like report on a hacker trying to unmask payday loan scammers. It is amazing how insulated many of these companies are to say nothing of their expertise at manipulating consumers.

Gary Vaynerchuk Answers All Your Social Media Questions
While not technically something to read, it is something we found too good not to share. Mr. Vaynerchuk, described as a “wine and social media entrepreneur,” offers solid suggestions regarding social media strategy that you would be wise to consider. Ed note… we always heard that you should never pair alcohol with social media. This is a first.

Chat Wars: Microsoft vs AOL
Nothing like a good old fashioned corporate war story, which this is, but the article also offers a bonus subtext: the very real, debilitating danger of bureaucracy.

The Science of Negotiation
Convincing consumers to become credit union members often requires a negotiation, but most credit unions don’t train on that skill. If you feel a little deficient in your skill set, maybe this article can help put you on the right path.
